All Smiles with Alice: Day One on the ShredShox
Brighton, UT – January 29th, 2025
ShredShox took another exciting step forward as we welcomed former World Cup and Team USA skier Alice Merryweather to the slopes for her first experience with full-suspension skiing. After an initial introduction at the Snowbound Expo in Boston, ShredShox invited Alice to put the technology to the test at Brighton Resort in Utah.
For Alice’s test ride, we worked closely with her to craft a setup that would feel familiar and comfortable. She opted for her daily driver, the Rossignol 188 GS ski, ensuring that the only difference in performance would come from the integration of the ShredShox platform. It was a perfect bluebird day in Brighton, setting the stage for an exciting round of elite-level testing and performance adjustments.
Elite-Level Testing with a Pro Skier
Throughout the day, our team worked with Alice to fine-tune the ShredShox system. Adjustments were made to rebound levels and air pressure (PSI) to enhance functionality and match her aggressive skiing style. Alice’s ability to push the limits of the technology provided us with valuable real-time feedback from a world-class skier’s perspective.
Ken Nichols, Founder of ShredShox, shared his excitement about the collaboration:
"After meeting Alice at Snowbound Expo and having the opportunity to work with her to further develop the ShredShox is an honor. The idea of ShredShox was born while watching downhill racing, so having a pro like Alice spend a day on the mountain with our platform is certainly a milestone for the company. Not only was it impressive to watch, but Alice is a true pro and a fantastic person."
Alice reflected on her first experience with full-suspension skiing, highlighting the unique feel of the platform:
"My first experience on the ShredShox was very interesting. I enjoyed being able to participate in the R&D process and provide elite-level feedback. It was a great day, and I could turn my mind off and make beautiful turns."
What is ShredShox?
ShredShox is the first and only full-suspension ski platform, designed to enhance performance and reduce impact forces. The technology provides superior energy absorption, reducing strain on the body while allowing skiers to push their limits. Testing has shown an average impact reduction of 60-90%, with peak impacts decreased by up to 1100%. This means hard-charging skiers can charge harder, and those seeking reduced exertion can ski longer with less fatigue.
By integrating suspension and damping technology into the ski system, ShredShox smooths out rough terrain, improves edge hold, and enhances control at high speeds—giving skiers the ability to fine-tune their ride for optimal performance.
Who is Alice Merryweather?
Alice Merryweather is an accomplished former World Cup alpine ski racer and a Team USA Olympian. She has competed at the highest levels of the sport, representing the United States in major international competitions. Known for her aggressive yet smooth skiing style, Alice has made a name for herself in speed events, particularly in Downhill and Super-G. Her experience and insights provide invaluable feedback in developing and refining cutting-edge ski technology like ShredShox.
A Milestone for Full-Suspension Skiing
The opportunity to work with Alice Merryweather at Brighton Resort marked an important milestone for ShredShox. Seeing a professional skier adapt to and appreciate the platform underscores the potential for full-suspension technology to revolutionize alpine skiing.
With more public demos, retailer partnerships, and R&D advancements on the horizon, ShredShox continues to push the boundaries of performance and innovation in skiing. Stay tuned for more exciting updates as we bring full-suspension skiing to the world!
